Seafood Export To America Market: 0% Tax Rate On 4 Companies (15 / 03)
VASEP (Vietnam Association Seafood Exporters and Producers) informed DOC (Department of Commerce) had announced the final result of the dumping tax rate consideration on frozen Pangasius fillet from Vietnam from 1st August 2007 to 31st July 2008. This is the fifth time DOC considers its anti dumping tax on frozen Pangasius businesses. Accordingly, DOC affirmed that 4 seafood export companies of Vietnam including QVD, Vinh Hoan, Samefico and Cadovimex II hadn t sold their products at the price that was lower the market price in America. Consequently, these 4 companies enjoy the tax rate at 0%. However, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, the Deputy President of VASEP said that this was just the briefing decision of DOC. Export Turnover Of Pangasius May Reach 1.3 Billion USD
According to seafood specialist, since August, pangasius export will have positive signs when demand of import from markets has signs of improving. According to forecast, this year, export turnover of pangasius may reach 1.2-1.3 billion USD. In July, the country may export 15.000 tonnes and at the end of the year, this number is 70.000 tonnes. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advises export enterprises have to obey current regulations and improve inspections of product quality to keep market stably. Besides that, the ministry asks Department of managing agriculture, forestry and seafood products to improve inspection, supervise export pangasius product and emphasize the responsibility of the enterprises.
